Roxboro man faces felony drug charge

A Roxboro man was arrested by police July 7 after he was found to be in possession of marijuana while being booked into jail.

According to the incident report, Jaquain Lamont Chavis, 21, of 52 Trotter Road, Roxboro, was originally arrested on a charge of resisting and delaying a public official and confined to Person County Jail. While being processed into jail, officers discovered marijuana during a search. Chavis was then charged for possession of a controlled substance in a prison or jail. Roxboro Police Sgt. K.J. Horton made the arrest.

Chavis was placed under a $15,000 secured bond.

LARCENY OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Roxboro police arrested a local man July 7 for felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Thaileel Andrake Johnson, 17, of 60 Shady Hill Circle, Roxboro, was charged with the felony count and placed under a $20,000 secured bond. Officer T.S. Gray made the arrest.

According to the incident report, the vehicle was parked at 140 Cleveland Lane when it was stolen. Sheriff ’s deputies found Johnson to be in possession of the vehicle before the vehicle was reported stolen and he was arrested on unrelated charges. The victim reported that Johnson was the one who had taken the vehicle and he did not have permission to have it. Once the vehicle was reported stolen, Johnson was arrested on the larceny charge.
