Blonnie Bell Obie Richmond

Mrs. Blonnie Bell Obie Richmond, age 88, of 265 Richmond Road, departed this life on Thursday night, July 5, 2018 in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham. She was a native of Braddock, Pennsylvania but made her home in Roxboro and was a member of Mayo Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Alton, Virginia.

She is survived by two daughters, Suzette Daye (Andrew) and Lynette Newman (David), both of Roxboro; one sister, Shirley Boyd of Jamaica, New York; three grandchildren, Donte` Edwards, Junelle Newman and Ty Daye, all of Roxboro; one sister-in-law, Shirley Ransome of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother-in-law, Herbert Bailey (Cecelia) of Baltimore, Maryland; a “granddog,” Mercedes; and a host of other saddened nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Mayo Grove Baptist Church, 1065 Whitt Loop Road, Alton, VA with the Rev. Vaxaeadrene  A. Allen, pastor, presiding and the Rev. Dwight Wilkerson providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the family present during the last hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter at 209 Richmond Rd., Roxboro, NC 27573.

The body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service.
