Tonya Gentry Hood


Rocky Mount — Tonya “Sug” Gentry Hood, 49, of 3919 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.
Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm “Mickey” David Gentry and Laurie Westbrook Gentry, who survives.
Mrs. Hood worked for Pizza Hearth and with her father at Mickey’s Store.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hood; one son, Justin Hawley (Alyssa) of Asheville; one daughter, Kaitlyn Hawley (Tyler) of the home; one brother, Scott Gentry (Wendy) of Timberlake; one sister, Robin Knott (Trent) of Timberlake; eight nephews, Brett Wrenn, Kyle Wrenn, Kaleb Wrenn, Jacob Knott, Randall Flowers, Cody Flowers, Tyler Benton and Mitchell Benton; four nieces, Olivia Gentry, Abby Gentry, Olivia Knott and Emily Benton; and two great-nieces, Addison Wrenn and Ainslee Wrenn.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Brooks & White Chapel and other times at the home of her mother, Laurie Gentry, 186 Dee Long Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating.
