Christian SarverClayton Christian SarverWhile surrounded by family and friends, Clayton Christian Sarver, born July 20, 2003, of 2380 Haywood Bailey Road, Roxboro, passed peacefully on Nov. 11 at 3:08 p.m. under the care of the Duke University Hospital’s PICU team.
Clay was an active young man with a deep love for baseball, having committed countless evenings and weekends to the sport starting at a very young age.
Through baseball, Clay forged many close friendships and bonds that will linger in the hearts of those he left behind for years to come.
Clay loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting often, and taking every opportunity to ride a dirt bike or 4-wheeler through a mud puddle or over a jump.
Clay was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joyce Clayton, and grandfather, Mark Sarver.
Surviving are his mother Casey, and husband Brent Clayton of City Lake; step-brother Cody, step-sister Erika and daughter Aubrey; his father Adam Sarver, wife Amber and sister Emerson of Woodsdale; grandfather Thedford (Rat) Clayton; grandmother Francesca Sarver; step-grandmothers Clara (Pee Wee) Clayton and Tammera Powers; uncle Todd Clayton and wife Jill; uncle Thaddeus Sarver; aunt Lesley Belcher; aunt Amanda Smith and husband Kevin; eight first cousins, Tanner and Collin Clayton, Gabriel and Larry Sarver, Aiden and Hyland Belcher, and Gabriel and Lorelei Smith.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Theresa Baptist Church. A remembrance service will be held Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at Theresa Baptist Church, followed by a private graveside service at the Clayton Family Cemetery in City Lake.
In remembrance of Clay, memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Ronald McDonald of Durham and Wake, Inc., 506 Alexander Avenue Durham, NC 27705.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Toone, Hunter Harris, Ridge Clayton, Tyler Spivey, CJ Suitt, and Sam Bailey.
