Person boys track runs past Phoenix

The Rockets won all but one event in the meet, with four athletes taking home two individual first-place finishes.

Senior Brendan Goodson placed in three field events. He won the long jump with a best effort off 17-feet, 11-inches and was victorious in the discus (119-1/2). The senior also finished second in the high jump with a best effort of 6-feet, just behind Nazz Smith’s winning jump of 6-feet, 2-inches.

Nick Smith was the winner of the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.5 and won the shot put with a best effort of 41-feet, 8-inches.

Distance runner Zion Hughes earned first- place points in the 1,600-meters (5:15) and 800-meters (2:25), while Justin Breeze won the 3,200-meters and triple jump (37-3).

KELLY SNOW | COURIER-TIMES Davian Street won the 400-meter run with a time of 56.0, while Peyton Allen was victorious in the 300-meter hurdles (47.72). Demetre Morton was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.47.

Javaris Bumphus was the winner of the 200-meters with a time of 25.06, followed by Naz Dodson (26.12).

Jailin Smith earned second-place results in the 400-meters (58.0) and the triple jump (32-10), while Ryan Nesbitt and Justin Neathery came home second and third in the 800-meters. Hez Carrington picked up secondplace points in the 100-meters with a time of 11.6, while Jaden Harris was the runner-up in the long jump (17-6). Long distance runner Logan Bates finished second in the both the 1,600-meters (5:18) and the 3,200-meters, while Cameron Whitman was third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.12). Person wrapped up a dominant day in field events with third-place finishes by Exxavier Thompson in the shot put (34-9) and Zyakiee Green in the discus (95-2).

Person girls’ track athletes

Brianna Ramsey and Magen Elliott led their team to a strong showing against McMichael.

Ramsey was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash and finished second in the 200-meters.

Elliott was dominant in distance races, winning the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 and finishing second in the 400-meters.

Vaekael Harris won the shot put and finished second in the discus, while teammate Amiya Brown was second in the shot.

Alisha Barden racked up third-place results in the 100 and 200 meters, while Tiffani Hargrove finished third in the 110-meter hurdles. Carleigh Pearsall was third in the long jump.
