Riverside downs Bulldogs, 16-4

The Roxboro Community School baseball team had two bad innings and couldn’t recover in a 16-4 loss at Riverside Wednesday.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-2 on the season.

The teams exchanged two-run first innings but the Pirates put the game away with five runs in the third and eight in the fourth.

The game was decided after five innings.

Ian Coleman led the Bulldogs at the plate going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Michael Clayton and Bryson Pleasant each had a hit and drove in a run.

Sam Hall and Jesse Morris each had RBIs. Cody Sherron and Grant Meiggs chipped in hits.

The Bulldogs faced Oxford Prep Friday, but results were unavailable at press time.

They’ll be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Falls Lake Academy. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
