Ray Davis Hayes

Ray Davis Hayes, 82, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018.  He was born in Yadkin County to the late William K. Hayes and Mary Eleanor Sprouse Hayes.  Mr. Hayes served in the United States Army and later retired from Anheuser-Busch.  He briefly worked at Busch Gardens with the Clydesdale horses.  Mr. Hayes was the owner/operator of Ray’s Woodworking and worked at Home Depot in Hillsborough.  He was a member of the Person Masonic Lodge 113 and attended Lea’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his children, Lynn Hayes Blakley, of Durham and Ken Hayes and wife Philis, of Lexington; two sisters, Helen Roseberry, of Yadkinville and Carol Jackson and husband Henry, of Lewisville; three grandchildren, Gail Blakley, Kennie Sledge and husband Nicholas, and Joseph Hayes and wife Danielle; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sledge, Courtney Sledge, Caige Hayes, Blake Hayes, and Logan Hayes.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at Lea’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Justin Wells officiating.  Burial will follow in Wheeler’s Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
