RCS volleyball raises money for cancer awareness

Karen Butler Karen Butler The RCS varsity volleyball team recently delivered $3,204 to the Belk Boutique’s Self Image Program at Duke Cancer Institute. The team held a Dig Pink Night during a volleyball game, and also sold t-shirts to raise the funds. “Visiting the Duke Cancer hospital was so eye opening, because, I guess you don’t realize how many people it affects until you walk by all of the rooms with names on them. Being able to give money that we raised doing something we love, playing volleyball, was so rewarding. We got to give so many women wigs or hats or scarves to wear after they fight cancer, and we may never know how much that means to them, but we were just happy to be a part of it,” said Jordan Taylor, RCS senior volleyball player. The team chose to raise money for the Belk Boutique because several members of the Bulldog family are battling or have defeated cancer.
