James O. Russell


Mr. James O. Russell, age 69, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Sept. 19, 2017 in White Oak Manor, Burlington.
He was a native of Person County and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Stacy Russell and one son, Bernard Russell, both of Baltimore, Maryland;  his mother, Annie Jane Russell of Roxboro;  six brothers and sisters, Bertha Russell Williams of Durham, Clarice Russell Turner (Clarence) of Roxboro, Jake Russell of Charlotte, Deborah Russell of Oxford, and Kenneth Russell and Jeffrey Russell, both of Roxboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one adopted son of Baltimore; and a host of other additional relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Clevie Brandon officiating and providing the eulogy.  Burial with military rites will follow in the Zion Level Baptist Church Cemetery, 1780 Zion Level Church Road, Semora, NC 27343.  
Visitation will also be at the funeral home Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present during the last hour from 5 to 6 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his mother, 206 Foushee Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
The body will lie in state in the funeral home chapel for one hour prior to the service.
Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service of comfort for Mr. James O. Russell.
