RCS baseball routs Southern Durham to remain undefeated

The Roxboro Community School baseball team used a huge second inning to put away Southern Durham for a 14-4, fiveinning win Tuesday in Durham.

Tucker Hord picked up the win after surrendering one earned run on three hits while striking out five.

The Spartans got on the board with a run in the first, but RCS responded with three in the bottom of the inning.

The Bulldogs put the game away with eight runs in the second and scored twice in the fourth. Southern posted runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Hord had a huge night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and three runs scored.

Parker Brann had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, while Collin Winstead and Drew Long each had a base hit and two RBIs. Jarren Winstead, Tanner Powell and David Rice each had a hit in the win. The Bulldogs will be back in action Monday when it travels to East Wake Academy for a 4:30 p.m. game.

NOTE — The Bulldogs defeated Granville Central Friday. Statistics were not available at press time.
