Technological advances have changed way of life

By Wyatt Cook

Technology in the past 10 to 15 years has changed and advanced a lot.

For example, the first cell phones that were made were very large and didn’t really work well, but now cell phones are touch screen and allow users to access the Internet, listen to music, and much more.

Also, technology is playing a major role in the average person’s life. For example, people can communicate through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, or they can text or call others they are trying to reach. And these days, anyone applying for a job has to do it online because most places are going paperless.

Technology is now in most schools, and jobs too. Most elementary schools are learning off of computers or learning how to use one. When I was in elementary school, I never really used a computer or even really learned off one; however, I think technology really is important and needed most times, like if you want to talk to someone, but don’t really feel like talking, you can text or send them a message. There are also problems with technology. Examples are texting and driving, or money problems resulting from overdue phone bills.

I think the biggest problem with it is that nobody comes to visit in person that much anymore. A while back my mother told me her relative said that ever since the phone was invented, nobody comes to visit anymore. And it is true. If it is so easy to call or text someone, why go visit them in person? Why waste all that gas, money and time when you can just call or text them?

Technology is great and useful at times, like if you are broken down or you want to listen to music and ignore your parents, which we teens are best for!

I hope I put some light into your view of technology as I have mine.
