Alice Hubbard Phelps

Alice Hubbard Phelps, age 73, of 2064 Seashore Road SW, Supply, died Thursday morning Jan. 2, 2014 at the Hock Family Pavilion.

Mrs. Phelps was a native of Person County, wife of 44 years to the late Phillip Ray Phelps and daughter of the late Willie Arch and Myrtle Sue Carver Hubbard. She was retired from Eaton Corp. after 36 years of service and was a member of Ca-vel Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Chris Phelps and wife, Amanda and Ken “62” Phelps and wife, Billie; sister, Kathy H. Clayton and husband, Ronnie, all of Roxboro; five grandchildren, Justin Phelps of San Clemente, Calif., and Jacob Phelps, Jared Phelps, Logan Phelps and Audrey Phelps, all of Roxboro; fiancĂ©, Johnny Carter of Creedmore, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Phelps is preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette H. Clayton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Ca-vel Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Long and the Rev. Herbert Brown. Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church and other times at the home of Chris Phelps, 1160 Country Club Road, Roxboro.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Clayton, Todd Compton, Tom Hainline, Bill Hawkins, Rodney Howerton, Jonathan Hubbard and Pat Stewart. Hilton Hawkins, Paul Stewart, Robert Trickey and the deacons of Cavel Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Ca-vel Baptist Church General Fund, 1885 North Main Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
